Park It!

Students began their first STEAM engineering assignment last week. The task is to create a two floor parking garage that will hold at least one dictionary or eight hot wheel cars. Students learned what constraints are, and the constraints for this assignment include a certain height, width, length, and the inclusion of a ramp. They also can only use certain materials. 

Students created a plan with their partners, and then began to build. We hope to share our finished parking structures on Friday.

As part of the engineering design process, we will rethink our buildings, and redesign using the knowledge we gained from our first build, and by observing others. Then students will make a new plan including a new constraint--their materials will come at a cost and students will be given a budget for their design.
