Terra Nova Testing: Feb. 25 - March 1

We are approaching that time of year again.  Each year, students in the Upper School take standardized tests. These are one way of watching student progress and find out how students are doing with certain kinds of academic tasks.   These tests will be taking place from February 25 to March 1.   How can your child best prepare to do well?
  • Go to bed without any phones or devices in hand by about 8:30.  (Children need about 10-11 hours of sleep each night.)
  • Eat a healthy breakfast that includes protein.
  • Arrive at school every day and on time.   (Students who are absent will make up tests after school the following week.)
  • Don't worry. Calm assurance is the key for test anxiety or fears.  Some words that may help include, "Think of the tests like a game you want to win." or " Just do your best. "
  • Get some physical activity outside whenever possible.  Testing days involve a lot of sitting and writing, which can get tiring.  Students need to be more physically active in order to compensate, an then rest well at night.
