A Math Scavenger Hunt

The sixth grade completed a math unit on fractions, decimals and percents right before February break. As a culminating project, they created a variety of stores and a bank to teach fourth graders about these concepts. Fourth graders went on various scavenger hunts in small groups, looking to buy a variety of items with a given budget. They learned about sales tax and discounts as they perused various stores. They learned what it meant to have a limited budget, and some groups even learned about compounding interest on savings accounts and loans.
