Monday, February 14th, we celebrated I Love Math Day. Students participated in math activities, and received a new math picture book from our visiting mathematician, Faye Boatright. Ms. Boatright told how she uses math as a part of her job working in municipal finance on Wall Street. The students had many thoughtful questions!
Also, as a part of the preparation for I Love Math Day, Mr. Lawrence prepares an estimation activity where students make an educated guess of how many candies are in a container. This year there was a tie in the fourth grade for who estimated closest. Lourdes Valdez and Emma Eaton both made estimations closest to the actual number. Good job ladies!
