Every year, the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas -- the “mini term” weeks -- are busy ones at Mustard Seed. During those 14 mini-term days, there are unique units of study, opportunities for service, the celebration of Advent, and more. You may have already heard about some of the excitements:
- Jesse Tree Stories at Advent
- Geography Bee Challenges
- Shakespeare and other old tales
- Special required reads
- New math challenges
- New STEAM challenges
- Parent Conferences in Grades K-5
- MANY opportunities for service
On the last day of the mini-term, the evening of Thursday, December 19, we ALL gather to celebrate Las Posadas, as led by every Upper School student. What a season it will be!
Then, there are electives too! Like last year, students will take part in elective courses, which are led by teachers, guest professionals, and practiced 8th grade students. Some will meet Lego challenges, as others write fairy tales, play tennis, develop video and computer animations, learn yoga, listen to opera, carry out science experiments that you can eat, study sign language, practice doodle stitching, take on internships, and much, much more. For ten mornings out of the mini-term, students will split up for enriching pursuits of all kinds. Yes, this will be an exciting season!
