Our STEAM cycle this term is on plant and animal life cycles. Students have been working in teams researching an ecosystem, a plant in that ecosystem, and an animal that has their plant as a part of the animal's food web. During this study they needed to find out how important pollination is to their plant. Students wondered, what is pollination?
On Friday, students participated in a simulation to help their learning. Using dehydrated bees, each fourth and fifth grader modeled the way bees gather pollen and transfer the grains from one plant to another. They then observed and recorded their findings in their STEAM journals.
