As a part of their study of United States history and urban and rural communities, Grades 4 & 5 take an annual "Farm Trip" to the Lebanon area of Pennsylvania. Students eat and worship with Mennonite hosts, visit various farms, interview farmers and enjoy a visit to "Auntie Joyce's" home. Joyce Stoner has been hosting our students on her farm for well over twenty years and every year is an incredible gift. That means that there are several hundred Mustard Seed alumni -- many now approaching thirty years of age, who remember "Auntie Joyce" and all the fun that was had on her farm. Each year, she engages children in a scavenger hunt, hot dogs roasting over an open fire, toasted marshmallows, conversation, and more. This has been an annual gift from the generous heart of a woman who has cared for our students long before she ever met them.
We expect grade 4 to return on time this evening at 7:30. Jen Gautier and Kathy Hanson will keep you updated. Don't forget that Friday is a stay at home and rest day for grade 4 (only).
