Artists Receive Award

Since 1995 the Smithsonian, and then the Washington Calligraphers Guild,  and the National Association of Letter Carriers have sponsored the Graceful Envelope contest. Students and adults from all over the world enter the contest.

This year's theme was "A World of Change. " According to the website, they explain the theme in this way: 

"Times change, seasons change, tastes change. Your challenge is to create a Graceful Envelope by pondering a change from the past or looking into the future to the kind of change you would like to see in the world. Winners will be chosen based on artistic hand lettering, creative interpretation of the theme and effective use of color and design, including incorporation of postage stamp(s)." 

In the first through fourth grade category, there were 19 winners. Five of the winners were from Mustard Seed School. Jade, Delaney, Kate, Nyla, and Naomi were recognized on Monday, and received their certificate. Way to go Ladies!!
