Poets and Poetry

"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"
This is a quote from a poem I memorized when I was in fourth grade. I thought it was hysterical, and tried to use the word Bandersnatch as often as possible.

In writing we are going to be researching a poet of our choice, learning about their lives and their poetry. We will try writing different styles of poetry (haiku, diamante, cinquain), and using the tools of poets (alliteration, onomatopoeia). We will end our study with a poetry exhibition.
