CARNEGIE

(A message from Mrs. Mauldin)
In music classes, 3rd-5th grades have been working hard preparing for Spring Concert and Carnegie Hall Concert. They have been learning songs, pieces on recorders, making compositions and orchestral music analysis. I can't wait for you to hear the students perform at the Spring Concert on 5/24!

I am very excited to announce the Carnegie Hall concert trip that happens after the Spring Concert as well. This is a very special trip for the students - they get to perform at one of the most desired halls for all musicians! On Thursday May 26, we will leave together on the bus to play recorder with, sing with, and listen to St. Luke's Orchestra. This a very interactive concert and the hall will be filled with other schools in the area that have been working on the same curriculum. Here are a few things that are very important to this trip:

• We will need to leave school by 8:30 sharp. The concert is at 10:15, and we are required to be there by 9:30. The students need to come to school at 8:10 on that day, so that we can be loaded and departed on time.
• The participants are asked to wear black long pants. They will be given a T-shirt at the concert to wear for the performance. Please let me know if you have any questions.
• There will be only staff chaperones on this trip. Due to the large number of students (a hall full of student recorder players!) participating from many different schools, we are asked to provide staff chaperones only for security reasons.
• Students will need a disposable lunch and snack.
• We will be returning after lunch time, and will have regular afternoon classes and dismissal.
