A Can of Worms!

We opened up a can of worms in the fourth grade last Thursday. Well...not really a can but a rather large container. Mr. Bartus brought red wigglers, a special European composting worm, to give our class. The study of worms is a part of our plant/animal science unit this term. These worms apparently are large consumers of garbage and excellent for composting bins. As a class we discussed how the worms make new, healthy dirt from garbage. We read an excellent book about worms, called Yucky Worms. Then we used three of our senses--sight, touch, and smell, to gain a great understanding of these creatures.
