This Week in the Fourth Grade

What do you do with the leftovers?
This is a question we asked ourselves in math as we considered division with remainders. If you divide 26 by 6, the answer is 4 with a remainder of 2. When dealing with numbers, we realize that. But what if you have 26 cookies and 6 people, you're certainly going to share those last two cookies. If you have 26 people, and a cab holds four at a time, will you leave the others behind? No, they get another cab. (Or get strapped to the roof of the cab as one student suggested.) Then the leftovers have new meaning.

Celebrating Joely
She can throw people, and has won many medals. She can ride horses, and win many ribbons. These are just two of the interests Joely pursues. We also met Joely's dad and their dog, Cutie. We celebrate you, Joely!

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parent-Teacher Conferences take place for parents of students in grades 4-8 this week on October 21 (after school & evening) and 22 (daytime until about 5:00 PM). Midterm notes will be given to parents at that time. You should have already received an email from the office about signing up for an appointment. Please take note that on Friday, October 22, there is no school for students in grades 4-8, due to conferences, but school is in session for younger children.
