Plate Tectonics, Experimentation, and Presentations

Learning how the plates of the earth move, and the effect that movement has on our planet was the focus of our STEAM unit this second half of the term. Students created experiments that they could not only show the movement of the earth, but also model how plate tectonics are involved. Students also brainstormed innovations they could try out to protect life on our planet from such natural disasters as earthquakes, volcanoes and tsunamis.

Students have also focused more on sharing their information in a clear, concise way while engaging the audience by making eye contact and using a strong voice. Students presented to one another, and then offered encouraging and informative critique to make their final presentation better.
