On Wednesday, April 25, and Thursday, April 26, fourth graders will head to the Liberty Science Center to participate in an extended laboratory workshop in earth science. Students will ponder the question, "What is the earth made of anyway?" At this workshop, students identify mineral samples using a variety of tests and learn about how the rock cycle works. Activities about erosion, weathering and plate tectonics help illustrate important earth science concepts.
We will leave school at 9 a.m sharp, walk to the 2nd Street Light Rail station, taking the Light Rail to the Liberty Science Center. We will return by Light Rail as well, leaving the science center by 1:30 each day. Students will be accompanied by two teachers and one chaperone. Students should dress for the weather, and wear comfortable shoes. They will need to bring a backpack with a disposable snack and lunch.
